Asthma and Olympic Athletes

It's time to cheer on TEAM USA at the Olympics and we wanted to reach out to all of our patient athletes to encourage you to GO FOR THE GOLD.

Did you know that ASTHMA occurs more often in athletes than the general population?   1 in 5 Olympic Athletes have asthma -- and yet they compete at the highest levels.  They don't let asthma stop them, and neither should you.  If you're side lined by your breathing please make an appointment so we can help you breath easier, and achieve your goals.

For our STUDENT ATHLETES:  make that follow up appointment now to check  out your asthma and get those school forms filled out.  We have all the public school forms in the office, and there is never an extra charge for filling these out when it's done at the time of your appointment.  Don't get caught in the crunch -- we can approve your school based medications for the  2012-13 year.

Check out Dr. Eghrari-Sabet's latest clip at:  http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/health/Asthma-and-Olympic-Athletes -163964056.html

We hope you are inspired by these athletes who partner with their asthma Dr. to go Faster, Higher, Stronger.

Food Allergy Management

The area of food allergy is exploding with new information.  There are new testing devices to help us pin point who really has a food allergy and new ways of managing food allergy.  Within the next few years we may be able to "cure" food allergy.  For now we are here to help you navigate all the ins and outs and ups and downs of parenting a child with food allergy.

Check out Dr. Eghrari's recent interview about new blood tests that are available through our office.

Please schedule an appointment for us to discuss if we can help your child build tolerance to certain foods, or needs further testing to determine if they are ready for a food challenge.

Spring has SPRUNG!

Be sure to stay on track with your allergy shots we have evening hours on Mondays and Thursdays.  If your allergy medications are not working make an appointment for a medicine cabinet makeover.  There are new medications on the market since last spring.  Throw out your expired medications, never use a nasal spray that has been opened for more than a month, and understand that many asthma inhalers loose their effectiveness 30 to 60 days once removed from the foil package.  Better to start over with new medications even if you havent reached the expiration date.
